Why we built Scrutool
New AI tools launch every single day, each promising to change how you work. Most landing pages look the same, and it is genuinely hard to tell what delivers from what just sounds good.
That is the problem Scrutool was built to solve. We are an independent review platform covering every category of AI, from chatbots and image generators to coding assistants, voice tools and companions. Our job is simple: use each tool the way you would, find out what it is genuinely good and bad at, and tell you plainly, so you can make a confident decision in minutes instead of hours.
We started Scrutool out of a simple frustration with hype-driven AI coverage, and a belief that honest, hands-on testing is far more useful than another feature list. We are independently operated and focused on one thing: being a source you can actually trust when you are choosing an AI tool.

With over 12 years in the technology industry, Arohi has worked as a technology reporter and writer, covering emerging tools and trends and reviewing products hands-on. That blend of journalism and product-review experience shapes how Scrutool works: test things properly, cut through the marketing, and explain plainly what a tool is actually like to use.

Our independence is non-negotiable
A tool's score, and everything we write about it, is based only on our hands-on testing and real user feedback. No company can pay us to rank higher or to soften a review.
Sometimes we promote a paid listing. When we do, it is clearly marked as Featured. Featured placement helps support our work, but it never changes a tool's score, its position in our reviews, or what we say about it.
How we keep reviews accurate
Every review follows the same process and is checked before it goes live. We test each tool over several days on free and paid plans, score it against a fixed set of criteria for its category, and have a second person review the write-up.
We re-test tools as they change, show a last-updated date on every review, and correct mistakes quickly when readers flag them. You can read our full method on the How We Test page.
