MeiGen AI
MeiGen is a free AI image platform built around a reusable prompt gallery, generating across GPT Image, Nano Banana and Seedream in one picker, with background-editing skills and a daily-credit free tier.
A free, multi-model AI image platform that shows the full prompt behind every gallery image and prices each action up front, held back mainly by a content license on publishing and edits that drain credits fast.
Should you use MeiGen?
Creators who want current top-tier image models in one place and like to start from a community prompt rather than a blank box.
You need clear, unencumbered rights . Publishing your work to earn credits grants MeiGen a license to display and reuse it.
Browsing and downloads are free, with 20 daily credits that refresh . Generation runs about 4 credits, AI backgrounds 10 to 14, and packs start at $9.9 for 1,000 credits that never expire.
AI Backgrounds cost 10 to 14 credits each, and the 50-credit publish reward is approval-gated , landing in batches rather than on the spot.
Key features & how they perform
Each feature rated from hands-on testing and the tool's documented capabilities.
Reusable prompt library
Every gallery image shows its full prompt, the model, four variations and a one-click "Use as Prompt," plus a free download.
Multi-model picker
GPT Image 2.5 and 2.0, Nanobanana 2.1 and Pro, and Seedream sit in one dropdown, with the credit cost shown before you generate.
Background Remover
A clean transparent cutout on the first try, with flyaway hair strands and soft edges kept intact rather than blurred.
AI Backgrounds
Drops a new scene behind a cutout at Fast 1K or HD 2K quality, priced at 10 and 14 credits and shown up front.
Transparent credit pricing
The cost of each action appears before you commit, on the Generate button and in every skill panel, with no hidden charges.
Publish-to-earn credits
Submitting accepted work returns 50 credits, but approval is batched and publishing grants MeiGen a content license.

A MeiGen session, from borrowed prompt to published result
We tested the prompt library, the background tools, the model picker and the credit loop on a free account.
The prompt library gives you the full recipe
MeiGen is built around a gallery of AI images where every entry carries the prompt that made it. We opened a portrait to check whether these are real, reusable recipes or just pretty pictures.
The detail view handed over everything: the complete prompt text, the model it ran on (GPT Image), the creator, a like count, and four variations of the same idea.
The prompt was specific enough to copy and reuse right away, with camera and lighting detail written in, and a download arrow on the result let us save the image with no credit spent and no signup.
Where the free credits actually come from
Before testing the tools, we wanted to know the budget. The Skills page answered the "is this really free" question.
Our account already showed 30 credits from signing up, with 50 more on offer for publishing a creation that gets accepted. The Background Remover panel spelled out its own pricing in plain words: free daily credits first, then 1 credit per image once those run out.
Background Remover: a clean cutout on the first try
We ran the Background Remover on the same portrait we had downloaded, since the hard test for any cutout tool is hair.
The result came back as a transparent PNG with the subject isolated cleanly. The flyaway strands and the soft edge of the hair kept their detail instead of turning into a blurry halo.
Adding a background is where credits start to move
Next we tried the AI Backgrounds skill to put a new scene behind the cutout. The panel let us pick a quality level and showed the cost before we committed.
Fast 1K ran 10 credits per image, and HD 2K ran 14. The Replace background button confirmed the charge at 10 credits for the setting we chose.
Recreating an image from a community prompt
We wanted to see how close the generator gets when you borrow someone else's prompt. We picked a fashion lookbook collage by the creator Cherry 2.0, a four-panel editorial of a bearded man in a sand-toned outfit, and hit Use as Prompt.
The full prompt loaded into the generator instantly, ready to run.
The model picker is where MeiGen stands out. One dropdown held GPT Image 2.5, GPT Image 2.0, Nanobanana 2.1, Nanobanana Pro, Seedream and more, with the credit cost shown on the Generate button before we ran anything. We kept GPT Image 2.5 selected, and the button read 4 credits.
The result, and how it differed from the original
The generation came back fast and looked the part. It held the style of the original with real fidelity: the sandy desert tones, the multi-panel lookbook layout, the editorial lighting, and the same relaxed luxury mood.
Here is the finding that matters for anyone planning to reuse a prompt. The tool does not clone the original image. It produced a different face, a different pose set, and a different desert scene while keeping the recipe.
Publishing a result to earn credits back
To test the credit loop, we submitted our own creation to the gallery through the "Share your work and earn rewards" flow. The offer is 50 credits when your work is accepted.
The submission screen also made clear that publishing grants MeiGen a license to display and reuse your content, which is worth knowing before you hit Submit.
The 50 credits are not instant. After we submitted, the work landed in an "Under review" state, and the page explained that every submission is checked, with accepted works going into the Featured gallery in batches.

Who Should Use MeiGen, and Who Should Avoid It?
MeiGen is a genuinely useful, prompt-led image platform, but its publishing license and credit-hungry edits mean it suits some creators better than others.
Who Should Use MeiGen?
Best suited for these workflows
Prompt-Led Creators
People who would rather start from a full, proven prompt than a blank box, then tweak it into their own variation.
Multi-Model Shoppers
Anyone who wants GPT Image, Nano Banana and Seedream side by side and picks the right one for each job.
Casual, Budget Users
The daily credits that refresh make light, occasional generation genuinely free, with no card up front.
Quick-Cutout Needs
The Background Remover turns a photo into a clean transparent PNG, ready for a listing or a thumbnail.
Who Should Avoid MeiGen?
Consider an alternative if you need
Rights-Sensitive Work
Publishing to earn credits hands MeiGen a license to display and reuse your work, so read the terms first.
Heavy Editing Volume
AI Backgrounds and similar skills burn credits fast, so a busy editing workflow drains the balance quickly.
Exact Copies
Borrowed prompts produce style-matched variations, not clones, so you cannot recreate a gallery image exactly.
A Full Editor
The skills cover backgrounds, not layers, retouching or the complete editing suite a photo tool would give you.
Our Recommendation
MeiGen is one of the more genuinely useful image tools we have tested lately: current top-tier models in one picker, a prompt library you can actually reuse, honest credit pricing shown before each action, and a free daily tier that makes casual use free. Weigh two things before you lean on it. Publishing your work to earn credits grants MeiGen a license to it, and heavy edits drain credits fast. For prompt-led creation across the best current models, it is an easy recommendation.

A free, multi-model image tool that mostly earns the recommendation
MeiGen is one of the better image tools we have put through a free account lately. It puts current, top-tier models in a single dropdown, GPT Image, Nano Banana and Seedream, and shows the credit cost of each one before you spend anything. The gallery is the real draw: every image carries its full prompt, so you can borrow a proven recipe with one click and make your own variation, and you can download gallery images without even an account. The Background Remover produced a clean, hair-accurate cutout on the first try, and the daily credits that refresh make casual use genuinely free. Two caveats keep it out of the top tier. Publishing your work to earn credits grants MeiGen a license to display and reuse it, and the heavier skills, like AI Backgrounds at 10 to 14 credits a go, drain the balance fast. For prompt-led creation across the best current models, with honest pricing and a real free tier, MeiGen is an easy tool to recommend. If you need clean commercial rights or a full editor, read the fine print and weigh a dedicated alternative first.
